BEHIND THE SCENES

(Click thumbnails to enlarge)

DAY 1

Students gather background information in their teams based on the 3 eras of the Phanerozoic Eon

Calculating ratios so our mural will represent a scale time-line of the Earth's Phanerozoic Eon.

Day 2

Nico and So-Yeon finish placing the Paleozoic Era timeline strip.  This took steady hands and patience

Left to right: Paleozoic Team seeing how much material they will need to cover their ocean scene, Mesozoic Team getting clever, and my unsuccessful attempt at a candid shot of collaboartive work.

Day 3

Tragedy struck when our timeline did not adhere to the wall but with a little help from friends and some extra adhesive, we got the timeline up an complete

Malena shows her artistic talent and together with Ana references some information for the timeline

Day 4

Team Paleozoic installing their ocean and making a coral reef assembly line to fill in their ancient ocean

Team Mesozoic putting up a tree with the first of our mammal ancestors living in its branches.  Cadu helps team Cenozoic put in the first grass on Earth

DAY 5

Team Cenozoic determine the scale of their Quaternary Period extension and Team Mesozoic make the first flowering plants in Earth's History

Blank wall space undergoing its transformation

DAY 6

Team Paleozoic make trilobites, Cadu contemplates extinction, and Team Mesozoic helps the first flowering plants to evolve

DAY 7

Teams working diligently to complete the mural while Maggie makes the ancient Earth

Parents stop by for a tour of our almost completed mural after the Writer's Celebration.  Good times!

DAY 8

Cadu makes another ancient Earth while Miguel and Fernando writing the information that will be linked to QR Codes for our class mural
