Mission Log #5 (Io, Europa, Ganymede)
Mission Log: Today we will accomplish the following learning objectives...
1. Review our Mission Log #3 formative assessment
2. Review our work from Mission Log #4
3. Use remainder of time to study.
Homework: Bring headphones to class! You'll be happy you did!
Mission Log #4 (Callisto only)
Mission Log: Callisto, my apologies for my absence but I will be back tomorrow. Today, I would like you to take notes on paper that show you understand...
1. What causes the tides? Specifically, how do the positions of the sun, earth, and moon cause spring tides and neap tides?
2. What is the difference between a solar eclipse and a lunar eclipse?
3. What causes summer and winter? You should also tell me what would happen to the seasons if the Earth had no tilt.
4. What would happen to the Earth if it stopped rotating? (This one is a bonus fun challenge if you finish the other 3 first)
*You can work together but each person must have their own note sheet turned in to the teacher by the end of the class. Feel free to include diagrams or anything else that helps you learn this material. Make sure you are using good websites!!!
Homework: Make sure that you have the Mission Log #3 homework completed and that you are studying for your Space Summative next Tuesday. Good luck!
Mission Log #4 (Io, Europa, Ganymede)
Mission Log: Today we will learn about the relationship between the Sun, Earth, and Moon and how their relative motion are responsible for the tides and eclipses.
We will also see how Dark Energy is speeding up the expansion of the Universe.
Homework: Make sure that you have the sheets from today's lesson completed by next class. Here are some helpful links to accomplish this goal...
Crash Course Astronomy (Tides)
VSauce (What if the Earth Stopped Spinning?) (Not necessary for this but very cool!)
Mission Log #3 (Io, Europa, Ganymede, Callisto)
Mission Log: Today we will learn about how the Universe was created ~13.7 billion years ago and the evidence that supports this idea.
Homework: Complete the Engaging T+1 and the Formative Assessment on the last page of the Mission Log #3 Handout. We will review this next class for sure!
Mission Log #2 (Io, Europa, Ganymede, Callisto)
Mission Log: Today we will apply what we learned about air pressure to discuss how the vacuum of space would affect the human body. We will also see what happens when we put various objects in a vacuum chamber, including an arm!
Homework: Have the class vocabulary sheet filled out with as much detail as possible. The vocabulary sheet can be found in your class Google Drive
Mission Log #1 (Io, Europa, Ganymede, Callisto)
Learning Objective: Today we will review the Essential Questions for this unit and then learn about how air pressure, air temperature, and air density change as we move from sea level to outer space. Check the Drive for a copy of today's work.
Homework: Complete the Mission Log #1 Homework and the Mission Log #2 Pre-Reading by the beginning of next class.
