Permian-Triassic Extinction (252,000,000 million years ago)

Also called, "The Great Dying" this was an event that wiped out 96% of marine and 70% of terrestrial species.  It is the deadliest extinction event in history and the probable cause was volcanism and the emission of deadly gasses into the atmosphere and hydrosphere.  Below is an image of dying Lystrosaurus
